Hi
I am Simon Jones,
I worked with Roger from 1995 to
2003 and became familiar with his practical jokes :) to my cost.
Once we travelled together to
Bristol to visit a ship. I was tasked by the office to take $30,000 cash along
to give to the captain. Somewhere on our journey, we stopped at a petrol
station and Roger got fuel and I got out to get some cokes. We continued
our journey and found our hotel.
We checked in and on opening my
bag I found that the cash was missing. In blind panic I called Roger, we
checked the car and concluded that the money must have been stolen at the
petrol station or I had left it on my desk at work. So, I called a colleague
back in the office who said that the cash wasn't there. Of course, after
putting the phone down Roger confessed !, I promptly called the office. Unfortunately, my colleague had by that time
alerted the whole office of my ‘cock-up'.
Upon
our return to work, we were summoned to the General Manager's office and given
a severe telling off for our childish antics !!!. Roger had that mischievous twinkle I his eye.
I shared 8 busy years of my life
with Roger, he taught me a lot, trusted me a lot and was a thoroughly decent
and kind bloke. I shall miss him and
right now his passing is as yet unbelievable to me.
